Disclosures & refund policy

The short, honest version of what "Let us do the work" is, what it isn't, and how money and information are handled. The service agreement you sign after checkout says the same things in full.

Last updated September 17, 2026. Four Lines Fiduciary is a service of Four Lines Capital Management, LLC.

What this service is

Administrative support for an executor, personal representative, successor trustee, or beneficiary. At your direction we report a death to financial institutions, obtain and complete their forms with information you provide, submit them once you have signed, and follow up until each institution has done its part. We also complete the first month's routine notifications (death-certificate applications prepared for your signature — ordered directly where the state allows, credit bureaus, reporting the death to Social Security, employer and pension notices, reporting the death to the VA, USPS hold and forwarding requests prepared for you to present, the deceased do-not-contact list, the estate or trust tax ID by filing Form SS-4 as your third-party designee, card cancellations) and answer your questions about the process. Survivor benefits and the Social Security lump-sum death payment must be claimed by the survivor personally; we provide the script and can schedule the call, but we do not represent anyone before the Social Security Administration. Likewise, VA burial and survivor claims must be filed by the survivor or a VA-accredited representative; we report the death and point you to the free Veterans Service Officer in your county.

What it is not

  • Not legal, tax, or financial advice. We do not decide who is entitled to an asset, whether probate is required, whether to disclaim, or how a retirement account should be paid out. When a question needs a lawyer or CPA, we say so and tell you what to ask them.
  • Not a law firm, and not a fiduciary of the estate. We do not prepare or file court documents, appear in court, or serve as executor, trustee, or agent with authority over assets.
  • We are not your agent — no power of attorney is required. In the rare case an institution will only work through a limited power of attorney for one specific task, we tell you first — it's limited to that task, in writing, revocable, and your decision. We never sign for you, hold or receive funds, log in to anyone's accounts, or move money. You (or the beneficiary) sign every form; the institution moves the funds.
  • Some steps are yours alone: being appointed by the court, opening the estate account, obtaining a Medallion signature guarantee, and any in-person identity check. We tell you exactly when, where, and what to bring.

Who pays, and "usually chargeable to the estate"

Reasonable costs of administering an estate are normally paid from the estate before anything is distributed, and services like this are usually treated as such a cost. In practice:

  • Before there is an estate account (which is most of the first month), the executor pays with a personal card and reimburses themselves once the account is open. Your receipt shows the name of the estate or trust, so it files cleanly with its records.
  • A trustee who already controls a trust account may pay from it directly.
  • Whether a particular cost is reimbursable in your case is a question for the estate's attorney, and a court or beneficiaries may review administration expenses. We say "usually," not "always," on purpose.

Prices and out-of-pocket costs

  • Authorization, then charge. At checkout Stripe places a hold on your card for the order total; we capture the charge only after your onboarding call, for the amount agreed on the call (never more than the total you saw). If you cancel before the call, the hold is released and nothing is charged. Holds expire on their own after seven days if we have not captured them.
  • The price at checkout covers our work: Notifications & identity (including the first institution), Household & benefits if selected, a fee per additional institution with the stated surcharges for brokerage/retirement accounts and accounts held in a trust, and any add-ons you select. Prices are shown before you pay and do not change after checkout.
  • Out-of-pocket costs are charged at actual cost, with no markup, in one batch when the work is done: certified death certificates at the county's fee, certified mail and return receipts, a notary where an institution's affidavit requires one, DMV title fees, and a newspaper's fee if you add the creditor notice. We pay the vendor and charge the card you saved at checkout once, itemized, when the work is complete — or at the end of each month if the work runs longer than a month. Typical total: $30–40 per institution plus the certificates. You never have to log in to a county or newspaper site yourself. If an institution loses a submission and we resend it, you pay the second postage and nothing else.

Money-back guarantee, per account

If we cannot get an account to "transferred" at an institution we charged you for — despite you signing what's needed, being appointed where the account requires it, and completing the in-person steps — we refund our fee for that institution: $219, or $309 for a brokerage or retirement account, plus any trust surcharge, including for the first institution in the base price. The guarantee does not cover out-of-pocket costs already incurred, or an account that turns out not to exist or to be held differently than described. To claim it, reply to any email from us.

Refunds

  • Within 48 hours of checkout, or any time before we have made the first call — whichever is later: full refund on request, no questions. Reply "cancel" to the welcome email.
  • After work has begun: the per-institution fee for any institution we have not yet contacted is refundable in full; the base fee is refundable less the value of work already performed.
  • Costs already incurred on your behalf are not refundable.
  • To request a refund, reply to any email from us or write to handled@fourlinescapital.com.

Before we start

We verify your identity (through Stripe Identity) and your authority to act — a letter from the estate's attorney, or the will / Letters / certification of trust / beneficiary designation together with a one-page consent that lets institutions discuss your requests with us — and you sign the service agreement electronically. No power of attorney is required; if an institution will only proceed through a limited, single-task one, we explain it and you decide. Until Letters or a trust certification exist, we do only the work that may be done before appointment.

Your information

Everything you upload, and everything we prepare, lives in a per-matter folder in ShareFile — the secure client portal CPA and law firms use — encrypted, access-limited to the people on your matter, with an audit log. Signatures happen there too; nothing that carries a Social Security number is ever sent by email.

  • We keep what the estate's record needs: your contact details, the deceased's name and date of death, institution names and how each account is held, case numbers, copies of what we send and receive, and our contact notes.
  • We never ask for Social Security numbers, dates of birth, or account numbers by email or web form. Where an institution's own form requires them, that form goes through the signed-document flow directly to the institution.
  • Identity verification is performed by Stripe, Inc.; we receive a pass/fail and the name and date of birth as printed on your ID, not the images.
  • We contact only the institutions you have asked us to. We do not sell or share your information. We keep your file for seven years after completion, then destroy it; you may request a copy at any time.
  • Emails about your order (receipts, status changes, questions) are part of the service. Marketing email and text-message updates are sent only if you opt in, and you can stop either at any time (reply STOP to any text). SMS terms · Privacy policy.

Where it's available

Everything in the base service is federal or institution-level and available in every state. The two add-ons (property-tax notice, creditor publication) are available in California, Florida, Texas, and New York today.
