Terms of Use

Last updated: July 2026 · Draft for legal review

By using FLC Fiduciary Assist ("the app"), you agree to these terms. Please read them — especially the part about what the app is and isn't.

The app is an informational organizing tool — not legal, tax, or financial advice. It helps you organize and keep track of the steps involved in settling an estate. It is not a substitute for an attorney, CPA, or licensed fiduciary, and using it does not create an attorney-client or fiduciary relationship.

1. What the app does

The app generates a checklist and informational guidance based on the details you enter. Estate administration involves court deadlines, tax rules, and potential personal liability that depend on your specific facts and jurisdiction. Always confirm requirements with the relevant institution and a qualified professional.

2. Accuracy & institution information

Bank and institution procedures, phone numbers, document requirements, and legal deadlines change. We work to keep our directory current but do not guarantee its accuracy or completeness. Verify details directly with each institution before relying on them.

3. Your account and your encryption key

You are responsible for your account credentials and for your encryption passphrase/key. Because the app is zero-knowledge, we cannot recover your encryption key — if you lose it and have no backup or export, your locally stored data cannot be recovered by anyone, including us. Keep an export if you want a safety net.

4. Acceptable use

Use the app lawfully and only for your own estate matters or those you are authorized to administer. Don't misuse, reverse-engineer, or disrupt the service.

The app's institution directory (its selection, verification, contact details, document-requirement summaries, and "gotchas") and any community-experience content are proprietary compiled databases owned by Four Lines Capital Management, LLC. You may use them only for your own estate matters. You may not scrape, extract, bulk-copy, republish, resell, or use them to build or train a competing dataset or model. These datasets contain traceable watermark records; unauthorized copies are identifiable.

5. Privacy & anonymous analytics

Your estate information stays encrypted on your device; we do not receive it. The app includes an optional, opt-in anonymous analytics feature that is off by default. If you turn it on, the app sends only anonymous, unlinked usage signals — which features are used and the names of institutions looked up — that are not tied to you and cannot be traced back to you. It never includes your name, contact details, account numbers, balances, or estate content, and you can turn it off anytime in Settings. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.

6. Four Lines Fiduciary services

The app may offer to connect you with Four Lines Fiduciary for paid services such as a court accounting. Those services are separate and governed by their own engagement agreement. Nothing in the app is an offer or guarantee of those services.

7. Disclaimers & limitation of liability

The app is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for decisions made in reliance on the app. Settling an estate carries real legal and financial consequences — consult qualified professionals.

8. Governing law & changes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California. We may update them and will post changes here with a new date. Continued use means you accept the changes.

9. Using the app through a connector (Claude / ChatGPT)

We offer an optional connector that lets you use FLC Fiduciary Assist inside an AI assistant such as Claude or ChatGPT. These Terms apply whenever you use it. Unlike the phone app — which keeps your data on your device — the connector works by the assistant sending the details you share to our service to compute an answer; we process them in memory and do not store them. Anything you enter into Claude or ChatGPT is also governed by that platform's own terms and privacy policy. The same "informational tool — not legal, tax, or financial advice" limits above apply to every answer the connector returns. See our Privacy Policy for exactly what the connector does and does not receive.
