Service Terms — "Let us do the work"
Pilot terms, version 0.1 · September 2026 · Four Lines Capital Management, LLC, doing business as Four Lines Fiduciary ("Four Lines," "we"), and the customer identified at checkout ("you").
These are the terms for the done-for-you service sold at assist.fourlinescapital.com/order. They are written in plain English on purpose. Read with the disclosures and refund policy, which they incorporate. The Terms of Use cover the free app.
1. What we do
For each financial institution you list (banks, credit unions, brokerages, retirement custodians, insurers, mortgage and loan servicers, payment apps), we will, at your direction:
- report the death and obtain a case or claim number;
- identify the documents that institution requires for the account as it is held (in the deceased's name alone, jointly, with a named beneficiary, or in a trust);
- prepare those documents for your signature, using information you provide;
- submit them to the institution once you have signed, with the certified copies and any fees required;
- follow up with the institution until it has completed its part — the funds are in the estate's account, the surviving owner's name alone, the beneficiary's hands, or under the trustee's control — or until the institution tells us in writing that it requires something we cannot provide (see §3);
- report status to you at every change, and answer your questions about the process within one business day.
We will also complete the first-month notifications described at checkout: preparing applications for certified death certificates for your signature (and ordering them directly where the state permits a representative to do so), deceased alerts to the three credit bureaus, reporting the death to the Social Security Administration (or confirming the funeral home has done so) — we do not file, and are not authorized to file or be paid for, any claim for survivor benefits or the lump-sum death payment, which the survivor must make personally; we provide instructions — notices to the employer and pension plans and reporting the death to the Department of Veterans Affairs (we do not prepare or present VA benefit claims, which require VA accreditation), preparing USPS hold and forwarding requests for you to present, registration on the DMAchoice deceased do-not-contact list, obtaining an Employer Identification Number for the estate or trust from the IRS as third-party designee on a Form SS-4 you sign, and cancellation letters for cards and subscriptions you identify.
2. What we do not do
- We do not give legal, tax, or financial advice, and nothing we say or write is such advice. We do not decide who is entitled to any asset, whether an asset passes under a will, a trust, or by designation, whether probate is required, or how a retirement account should be paid out. Where a question requires legal or tax judgment we will say so and refer you to the estate's attorney or accountant.
- We do not prepare or file court documents, appear before any court, or serve as attorney, personal representative, trustee, or fiduciary of the estate.
- We are not your agent. No power of attorney is required and by default we hold none and do not act in your name. If a particular institution will proceed only under a limited power of attorney for one specified task, we will tell you in writing before anything is signed; any such instrument is limited to that task and institution, revocable by you at any time, prepared by the estate's attorney or on the institution's own form, and entirely your choice. We do not sign anything for you, hold or receive funds, log in to the deceased's or your accounts, or take possession of assets. Every form is signed by you or the beneficiary; where an institution or agency requires you to present it in person, you do; every institution moves funds directly.
- We do not perform in-person steps: your court appointment, opening the estate account, a Medallion signature guarantee, a branch identity check. We tell you when, where, and what to bring.
3. What we need from you
- Verification of your identity — on the onboarding call or through our identity-verification provider.
- Evidence of your authority: either a letter from the estate's attorney confirming your role and authorizing us to act at your direction, or the will / Letters / certification of trust / beneficiary designation together with the Consent to Communicate which we send you to sign. Four Lines does not act as your agent or attorney-in-fact under either.
- Accurate information about each account and how it is held; we rely on it.
- Signatures returned promptly; certified copies where an institution requires an original.
- Until you provide Letters or a certification of trust, our work is limited to what may be done before appointment (§1.1–1.2, first-month notifications).
If an institution declines to act on the documents you can provide, or requires an action only you can take, our obligation for that account is met when we have told you exactly what is required and by whom.
4. Fees and costs
- Fees are as quoted at checkout: Notifications & identity (including the first institution), Household & benefits if selected, a per-institution fee for each additional institution (with the stated surcharge for brokerage / retirement accounts and for accounts held in a trust), and any add-ons selected. At checkout your card is authorized for the order total; we capture the charge after the onboarding call, for the amount confirmed on the call, which may be less but never more than the authorized total. If you cancel before the call, the authorization is released.
- Costs we incur for you — certified death certificates at the county's fee, certified mail and return receipts, notary fees where an institution requires a notarized affidavit, DMV title fees, a newspaper's fee for a creditor notice you asked us to place — are charged at actual cost, itemized, with no markup, to the payment method you saved at checkout, in one batch when the work is complete, or at the end of each calendar month if the work runs longer than a month. You authorize those charges. If an institution loses a submission and we must resend it, you pay the second postage and nothing else.
- Fees and costs are generally reimbursable to you from the estate as an expense of administration; whether they are in your case is a question for the estate's attorney.
- Estate expense; how we get paid if a charge fails. You are ordering this service in your capacity as executor, administrator, personal representative, or successor trustee (or as the person who expects to be appointed), for the benefit of the estate or trust, and the fees and costs under this §4 are intended as expenses of its administration. You agree to seek reimbursement from the estate or trust, and you will not assert that the services were not for its benefit. If any amount due to us is not paid — for example, a declined completion charge that is not cured within 14 days — you authorize us, in addition to any other remedy, to present the unpaid amount as a claim against the estate or trust in the manner the law provides for creditors, with a copy of this agreement and the itemized record, and you agree to allow it as an expense of administration to the extent the law permits. Nothing in this section makes us your agent, gives us any authority over estate property, or allows us to take payment from estate funds ourselves.
5. Money-back guarantee, per institution
If we are unable to bring an account to "transferred" (§1.5) at an institution for which you were charged, and you have signed the documents required, obtained your appointment where the account requires it, and completed any in-person steps, we will refund our fee for that institution — the per-institution fee ($219, or $309 for a brokerage or retirement account) plus any trust surcharge, including for the first institution included in the base fee. The guarantee does not apply to costs already incurred on your behalf under §4, or where the account does not exist or is held differently than you described.
6. Refunds
If we have not made the first call on an account, the per-institution fee for that account is refundable on request. The base fee is refundable in full within 48 hours of checkout if no work has begun, and thereafter less the value of work performed. Costs already incurred are not refundable.
7. Your information
- We keep: your contact details, the deceased's name and date of death, institution names and how each account is held, case numbers, copies of what we send and receive, and the dates and content of our contacts with institutions — the record you need for the estate.
- We do not ask for, and ask you not to send by email or web form, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, or account numbers. Where an institution's own form requires them, the form travels through the signed-document flow to the institution.
- Identity verification is performed by Stripe, Inc.; we receive a result and the name and date of birth as printed on your ID, not the images.
- Documents you provide and documents we prepare are stored in a per-matter folder in ShareFile (Progress Software Corporation's secure client portal), encrypted in transit and at rest, with access limited to the people working on your matter and an audit log of every access. Signatures are collected through ShareFile's e-signature; forms that carry a Social Security number travel only that way.
- We retain your file for seven years after completion, then destroy it, unless you ask for it sooner. You may request a copy at any time.
- We never sell or share your information, and we contact only the institutions you have asked us to.
8. Communications
Status updates go to the email address you give us at every change and at least weekly; a status page is available at your private link. You may ask us anything about the process; we answer within one business day (Monday–Friday). If you have engaged an attorney and ask us to, we copy them on updates.
9. Limits of liability
Our responsibility is to perform the services in §1 with reasonable care. We are not responsible for an institution's delays, errors, or requirements; for consequences of inaccurate information you give us; or for legal or tax outcomes, which are outside the services. Our total liability under this agreement is limited to the fees you paid us.
10. Term and termination
The agreement runs until every account on your list is complete or you tell us to stop. Either party may end it on written notice; §4–§7 survive.
11. General
How these terms fit with our other terms. These Service Terms are the "separate service agreement" referred to in the Four Lines Capital Management Terms & Conditions, which govern our websites generally. For this service, these Service Terms, the disclosures and refund policy, and the service privacy policy control; where they say something different from the general Terms & Conditions — for example on refunds, the money-back guarantee, or how fees are authorized and charged — these Service Terms govern this service. The free app is governed by its own Terms of Use and privacy policy.
Governing law. Like the general Terms & Conditions, these terms are governed by the laws of the State of Nevada, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and disputes are brought in the courts located there — except that nothing in these terms takes away any consumer-protection right that the law of your own state gives you and does not allow you to waive. These Service Terms, the disclosures page, the service privacy policy, and your order at checkout are the entire agreement between us for this service; if any part is unenforceable the rest stands. Electronic signatures and acceptances are valid. We may assign this agreement to a successor of our business; you may not assign it. Notices go to handled@fourlinescapital.com and to the email you gave at checkout. We may update these terms for future orders; the version you accepted at checkout governs your order.
Draft for legal review — counsel to confirm the governing-law alignment with the company Terms & Conditions (Nevada) against California consumer law for a service sold to California residents.
